LASER SKIN THERAPY

Stretch Marks

before and after stretch marks treatment with laser therapy

Consultation

The process commences with a comprehensive consultation. In this session, I thoroughly assess the patient’s skin condition, evaluate the type and severity of stretch marks, and engage in a detailed discussion about the patient’s expectations and goals.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

Before the procedure, patients are counseled to take precautions to minimise post-treatment complications. Recommendations often include avoiding prolonged sun exposure and incorporating regular sunblock use. In certain instances, a numbing cream or local anesthesia might be applied to enhance patient comfort during the upcoming procedure.

Procedure

CO2 fractional laser resurfacing emerges as a cutting-edge approach for treating stretch marks. This technique involves a specialised laser device emitting controlled beams of light. The term “fractional” indicates that the laser targets only a fraction of the skin’s surface at a time.

The laser creates micro-injuries in the skin, removing small columns of tissue while leaving surrounding areas untouched. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing response and encourages the production of new, healthier skin cells. The depth and intensity of the laser can be adjusted based on the specific needs of the patient, effectively targeting and treating stretch marks.

Collagen Stimulation

A significant advantage of these procedures lies in their ability to stimulate collagen production. Collagen, a crucial protein providing structure and elasticity to the skin, aids in filling and smoothing out stretch marks over time.

Recovery

Post-procedure, patients can anticipate some redness, swelling, and a sensation similar to a mild sunburn. Recovery times may vary, but most individuals can resume normal activities within a few days. Adherence to post-treatment care instructions, including the use of prescribed creams and sun avoidance, is vital for optimal results and to minimise the risk of complications.

Results

The complete results of stretch mark treatments may take several weeks to months to become apparent. Patients often observe improved skin texture, reduced pigmentation, and diminished stretch marks as the skin continues to regenerate and heal.

Follow-Up Sessions

Depending on the severity of the stretch marks and the desired outcome, multiple treatment sessions may be recommended for optimal results. These sessions are typically spaced several weeks apart.
